Lindsey McAlister OBE - Artistic Director

Lindsey first put her BA Hons degree in Creative Arts to work at the Arts Council of Great Britain and the Gulbenkian Foundation implementing the 'Arts in Schools Report'. Then, nearly 20 years ago, she left the UK to travel for a year before arriving in Hong Kong.

In 1993, Lindsey founded the Hong Kong Youth Arts Festival (2006 renamed to Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation). For each year, she creates at least one major performance to be staged locally (either an original piece or an adaptation). In addition, she has toured theatre pieces to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and an exhibition to the Australian Festival of Youth in Adelaide.

Lindsey was granted honours in the New Year's Honours List 2006, an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), She has been granted an honour in recognition of her commitment to education and for her contribution to UK arts overseas.

Wendy Tsang - Assistant Director

Wendy has been involved in youth-related work in Hong Kong since graduating from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Social Science degree. Before joining YAF in 2001, Wendy spent 4 years as an Outreach Worker at KELY Support Group and was also a Senior Programme Officer at the Warehouse Teenagers Club. Wendy believes passionately in the arts as a key tool through which young people can express themselves and bring about personal growth. As Visual Arts Manager at YAF, she manages a wide range of large-scale visual arts projects, including artist-in-residence programmes with local artists and with major international names such as the renowned British theatre designer, Ralph Koltai.

Maria Wong - Performing Arts Manager

Maria holds a BFA (Hons) in Film and Television. After a few years working with directors like Tsui Hark, Johnnie To, Ringo Lam and Jackie Chan, she sprang from the house of celluloid to kicstart her career in performing arts when she joined the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation in 2002.

Maria's main role at YAF is to produce and manage performing arts events and programmes that directly benefit young people and promote this artform to the general public in Hong Kong. Her recent works include the first large-scale site-specifc dance festival in Hong Kong - Swire Island East Urban Dance Festival, a multi-media art installation/performance at CaCHe - Aedas City Sanctuary, Fashion shows with the University of Central Lancashire and a Notting Hill style canival at the Victoria Park - Standard Chatered Arts in the Park.

Her stage productions include producing and co-directing musicals like Fame, Bugsy Malone, Footloose, The Wiz and Disco Inferno with YAF. Burial, a multi-media play which Maria wrote and directed was premiered at the Fringe Club in 2007.

Yick Ling-Yan - Visual Arts Manager

After graduating from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2002, Yan joined YAF and took up her role co-ordinating the huge variety of visual arts projects offered by the festival. She loves exploring and developing new dimensions in visual arts, and sharing her ideas as projects for Hong Kong's young people. While studying for her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (majoring in Applied Arts), Yan was awarded both the 2000-1 Hong Kong Bank Foundation Scholarship (which sent her on an art and cultural exchange to Yunnan, China) and also the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship which funded her on an art study trip to London.

Patricia Chiu - Project Coordinator, Art Angels Programme

Patricia first encountered YAF as a teenage dancer in a project celebrating the Handover in 1997. It ignited a fiery passion for performance as she continued to participate in numerous YAF projects over the next 4 years till she left the shores of Hong Kong to further her studies in the performing arts at QUT in Brisbane. After 5 years in Australia, she found herself longing for the cultural melting pot that is Hong Kong and returned to work in arts and event management. Now working for YAF, she is thrilled that she has the opportunity to empower youth through rewarding and exciting art experiences.

Kan Wing Yee Wendy - Finance & Administration Manager

Wendy Kan joined YAF in 2005. Before joining YAF, she worked with various accountancy firms, commercial companies and a bank, where she gained extensive experience in financial and administration management. Wendy believes through YAF young people will have greater access to the arts.

Venus Tong - PR & Marketing Manager

Venus advances her career in YAF in 2006. Graduated from the University of Hong Kong, she has devoted to the public relations and marketing sector and attained professionalism in corporations like Hill & Knowlton and Hong Kong Education City. For years, she helps organize corporate events and publicity programs, and works closely with the press and the education sector. Venus appreciates the art of communication.

Kerry Liu - Performing Arts Assistant Manager

Graduated from the School of Creative Media from City University of Hong Kong in 2004, Kerry has been participating in the post-production work for films, and also have strong interest in dancing. She has joined many performances such as CCDC Student Showcases, YAF's "DHL Dancing High Lights Company",  flagship musical "Footloose", "Disco Inferno" as well as some outdoor dance performances. She believes the best way to strengthen her knowledge in creating projects that are close to the youth is by getting personally involved in the programmes.
