Community Arts Biennale 2015 - Seeking Artistic Concepts
THE PEOPLE
11/08/2014
In the past, physical location played a huge role in defining a community, tying those who lived or worked together into a close-knit group. Modern communication technologies have changed and expanded this. But although our concept of community is no longer confined by geography, it is still defined by its people.
For The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Arts Biennale 2013, young people and artists created sculptures and installation art for four unique locations throughout Hong Kong, with each piece reflecting the uniqueness of the neighbourhood.
The theme of next year’s Community Arts Biennale is ‘The People’, and this time we would like to bring together people of all backgrounds and ages in a cultural exchange to redefine the idea of community. We are now seeking Chinese-speaking local project artists with exciting, original artistic concepts for Community Arts Biennale 2015.
Artworks should be completed by early April 2015.
Artists will receive:
- An artist fee sponsorship of HK$12,000 – HK$25,000
- Materials sponsorship of HK$35,000 – HK$120,000
- The opportunity to have their work showcased at the Community Arts Biennale
If interested, please download the submission guidelines and the submission form (Chinese only) in the download section and return to shek@hkyaf.com before the deadline.
