The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: stART Up Community Arts Project – Experience Tactile Art

How do visually impaired people create and enjoy art? Between 5 and 17 March , a free exhibition of work produced by mixed-ability participants during The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: stART Up Community Arts Project is on display at the Artificial Grass Area, D·PARK, Tsuen Wan. As part of this exhibition, on the weekends of 9, 10, 16 and 17 March, we invite you to join Experience Tactile Art – a free creative blindfold challenge that offers insight into how visually impaired artists navigate their world. Miller Performing Arts: #BeTheChange: Kasama

“Bridge our gap, communicate with love. Despite our differences, we can unite.” A dedication to Hong Kong’s domestic workers – our community’s companions and carers. The dance and spoken word film Kasama (Tagalog for “together”) is a testament to the strength of the human spirit, capturing the determination and hope of immigrants who leave their homes in search of work to support their families. Written by migrant domestic worker Maria Nemy Lou Rocio, the co-founder of The Migrant Writers of Hong Kong, Kasama is a call for empathy and understanding in a community that can often feel fragmented and divisive. Inspired by her creative work, professional choreographer Kelsey Ang worked with a group of Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation dancers to bring the spoken word performance to life. The Migrant Writers of Hong Kong was established in March 2021 as an inclusive and nurturing environment for writers in the migrant community. The group use their platform and programmes to promote mental health awareness through creative writing. Their first anthology Ingat (Take Care) is set to launch in autumn 2023.

Miller Performing Arts – Gen Last – Auditions for Youth Performers

It’s the year 2055. On a bleak and desolate post-apocalyptic wasteland, a group of young people with extraordinary psychic powers are drawn together from different corners of the globe. They are the enigmatic Crystal Children.  Navigating the world alone, they confront the consequences of our failure to heed the warnings of climate change, hopeful that they can rebuild civilisation from the ashes. This November, HKYAF’s new flagship production Gen Last takes to the stage at The Box, Freespace. Written and directed by Lindsey McAlister, the original musical tells a story of empowerment and optimism.
