3 Expressive Art workshops targeting self-esteem issues for teachers / counselors / arts therapists were held in January and February 2006 with a heart-warming conclusion.
YAF recognized a low self-esteem problem that is common among young people today and joined together with an experienced Somatic Movement and Expressive Arts Educator, Karina Bergen, to bring to YAF a first-ever Expressive Arts workshop. This workshop integrated improvisational dance, visual arts, oral and written word, sound, touch and performance as a means to widen and deepen forms of self-expression and discovery. Participants were able to bring this valuable skill back to their schools to help young students overcome self-esteem problems and to help them come out of their shells and see their true-self.
