INTEGRATED-MEDIA WORKSHOP WITH PETER FLAHERTY AND JENNIE LIU
Venue : YAF Studio
Enquiry : 2877 2656

A 2-part workshop that touch on strategies for successful media integration with stage action, participants spend time exploring issues of perspective, depth, and real/virtual space as they relate to the compression of three-dimensional stage action into two-dimensional cinematic space.

THANK YOU. THE WORKSHOP HAD BEEN HELD SUCCESSFULLY.

In working with the students’ own movement ideas, it aims to leave them inspired and equipped with a basic understanding of how they could integrate video and new media into their own work.

First part is for movement creation, by interpreting written instructions of traditional folk dances, expanding on video recordings of a contemporary dance, inserting text and using chance operations to determine unusual compositional structures. The second part introduce projection by using a live camera to explore how a simple video setup can radically alter an audience’s perception of stage action and composition. Basic conceptual issues regarding viewership, gaze, and presence in contemporary culture were also discussed.
