Fully supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation has invited over a thousand young people to learn about site-specific art from Dec 2009 to May 2010.
The Point to Point Site Specific Art Project Performing Arts Workshops will kick off in February by sending 5 professional choreographers to work with over 150 dancers from different local schools to take part in 14-weeks of intensive dance training.
Led by our professional choreographers, the youth dancers will create 5 site-specific dance pieces for 5 designated sites all over Hong Kong. The dances are choreographed using the contemporary dance form, drawing an inspiration from the site and from the people that use the site on a daily basis, to create their movement vocabularies. Along with highlighting the architecture and historical backgrounds of the dance sites, the dance pieces will also reflect the artworks on site.
Workshops will run from February to May 2010 with 5 original on-site dance performances at the end of the workshop series.
