This 8-week course uses devising theatre as a process to help youth offenders to engage in drama workshops and theatre exercises. The ultimate goal is to bring out their potentials, encourage creativity, communication, team work, raise their self confidence and giving them a platform to express themselves through theatre.
4 facilitators and professional actors will visit Pik Uk Correctional Institute to work with the participants on-site. Using drama and role-playing as a tool, the objectives of the project is to encourage the participants to be creative, to use their imagination and invent characters and situations in a surreal dramatic scenario. Through putting on a physical theatre piece performed and created by the participants themselves, at the end of the workshops, they will learn and understand mutual respect in communication and team work, learn how to articulate oneself in terms of body language and speech in front of an audience and increase self-confidence in presenting oneself in front of others. Parents and fellow inmates and staff will be invited to the sharing performance to see their fruitful outcome.
