YAF, in association with Bloomberg, is delighted to present "The Happiest Hour", an exhibition of new media works by the first artists to participate in the Bloomberg Emerging Artists Programme, Samson Young & Christopher Lau.
In June 2007, over 130 proposals were received from Hong Kong artists and a selection made by a panel of arts professionals and curators. They unanimously selected the proposal ‘The Happiest Hour’ by music composer Samson Young and media artist Christopher Lau.
Over a period of three months the artists have been creating work using obsolete Game Boys collected from all over Hong Kong. After a public request on the paper and radio, people donated over 100 game boys to the artists to form part of their multi media installations. The artists have also been creating video and audio pieces, as well as hosting a series of student workshops to enable as many people as possible to become involved in new media art.
