Standard Chartered and YAF jointly presented the "Seeing is Believing" Visual Arts & Fundraising Project 2008, successfully attracting 7,000 students from local primary, secondary and special needs schools to create artworks and generating donations to Seeing is Believing. A donation of HK$250,000 is raised and all funds are donated to ORBIS for eye restorations and eye care education projects in China.

From 18 to 29 June, all 8,000 dot-painting art pieces will be displayed at Cityplaza to raise public awareness with regards to the visually impaired.

In the past 4 years, YAF was supported by Standard Chartered to create a series of successful visual art and fundraising projects for "Seeing is Believing". The success of the project is due to the art talent of every individual participant along with their generous donation, which continues to support the charitable work of ORBIS in China.

This year will be the fifth Visual Art project of this kind. Australian aboriginal painting will be used as the base stimulus for the artistic direction to create the art pieces. Using dots as the fundamental unit, the Australian Aborigines create shapes and patterns to celebrate life and depict the co-relationship between humans, animals and earth - that fundamentally we are all inter-connected.

Each participant will donate a minimum of HK$10 and will receive a 5"-8" round template made from the cross-section of a tree trunk or fake leather. They will be introduced to the style of dot-painting and will paint on their template their perception of a better world.
