THE 2ND CLP TOTEM ENVIRONMENTAL ART EXHIBITION
Venue : apm
Enquiry : sasha@hkyaf.com

YAF project artists Mark Liu, Gareth Dunster and Candice Keung have been visiting four primary schools (Beacon Hill School, Carmel Leung Sing Tak School, Clearwater Bay School and SKH Yan Laap Primary School) since February to assist primary students in making their totem pole designs a reality by decorating 7-feet high wooden pillars using recyclable materials.

They are learning how to convey green messages such as recycling, treasuring the green and marine environment through the creation of visual art pieces. A solar energy panel is installed in each totem pole to provide sustainable power that will light LEDs or turn a small fan. This will hopefully encourage students to use energy wisely and consider greener alternatives to non-renewable energy sources.

This project not only benefits the 150 participants, but also serves as a showcase for motivating the schools and the students' families to be conscious of the need to treasure our resources. By exhibiting these totems in malls, it effectively engages the public’s attention, urging them to be proactive and take part in environmental protection.
