BUTTERFLY SANCTUARY @ CYBERPORT
EASTER RECYCLED ART EXHIBITION
Venue : Ocean View Court, The Arcade, Cyberport
Enquiry : yan@hkyaf.com

Supported by The Arcade, Cyberport, YAF facilitated 80 students from 4 different secondary and primary schools in the collection of found objects/ waste and assisted them in transforming the collected items into environmental art sculptures. Project artists Ban Zhang, Mark Liu, Jimmy Hsieh and Lisa Choi inspired the participants to use clothes hangers, broken umbrellas, newspapers, disposable forks & spoons and used CDs to create a variety of butterfly sculptures.

The largest sculpture uses hundreds of plastic clothes hangers to construct a 7 feet (H) X 12 feet (W) butterfly while the smallest sculptures are made of newspaper and are 16 inch X 12 inch. 50 butterflies in an array of sizes will be flying in Cyberport, urging the public to change their daily habits in order to save the environment.

During the Easter public holidays, YAF will arrange free workshops for children to learn how to create a butterfly rod-puppet using waste paper. Performers dressed as butterflies and a butterfly-catcher will also bring the exhibition to life, stimulating visitors’ imagination!
