Held every four years, the East Asian Games (EAG) has been a major event in the Asian international sporting arena since 1993. The 5th East Asian Games will be held in Hong Kong this December. To celebrate the largest international multi-sport event ever held in Hong Kong, Yuen Long District Council and Yuen Long District Office of Home Affairs Department will present a series of activities, sponsored by Yuen Long District Council. This mosaic public art project is one of the highlights.
A YAF artist will inspire the local community through workshops in October and November to create a colourful mosaic mural that captures the spirit of this large scale sporting event.
Over hundreds of participants from primary & secondary schools, district councilors and social organisations in the Yuen Long district will come together to create a mosaic mural that is 50 square feet. The mosaic mural depicts a variety of sport activities and athletes whilst embracing the cultural characteristic of Yuen Long District. The finished mosaic mural will be installed on the exterior wall of Yuen Long Government Office (Kiu Lok Square) at the end of November, ready for the Games in December!
