The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: stART Up Community Arts Project: Beyond Boundaries: Applied Theatre Without Limits – Seeking Participants
18-19/01/2025
We are currently seeking participants for a two-day professional workshop on applied theatre, the practice of using theatre-based techniques to address community and social issues in non-traditional spaces.
Through theatre games, imagery, roleplay and storytelling, the Applied Theatre Without Limits workshop explores fundamental principles for designing collaborative activities and experiences. Participants will explore with the instructor how to adapt these methods for their specific needs and purposes, particularly for individuals with physical disabilities.
The workshop is led by applied theatre practitioner and trainer Dr Au Yi-man, and specifically tailored for drama educators, teaching artists, community organisers, social workers, arts and cultural administrators, and disability advocates and activists.
Places are limited, and priority will be given to participants who can attend both days. If you are unable to attend on either day, or at any specific time, please indicate this in your application.
About the facilitator
Dr Au Yi-man holds a PhD in Arts and Creative Education from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and a master’s degree in Applied Drama from the University of Exeter, UK. She is an applied theatre practitioner, trainer and researcher.
About the project
