Jockey Club “Project Silver” Intergenerational Arts Project 2021: “Three Lives, Three Songs” Music and Video Creation Programme

Three Lives, Three Songs is a new Cantonese music and video creation programme that brings together music industry professionals and young participants to create original songs and videos inspired by the personal stories of elderly members of the community. Organised by HKYAF in collaboration with the Hong Kong-based social enterprise Every Life is a Song – founded by renowned local songwriter Vicky Fung and lyricist Chow Yiu-fai – the programme takes place between July and October 2021.

We are now seeking youth participants aged 16 to 25 with experience in songwriting, music composition, music production or music video production to join the programme. 

Successful applicants will be assigned to teams of three or four according to their experience, with each team consisting of a mix of individuals specialising in music composition, lyric writing, music production and music video production. Each team will interview one elderly citizen and work together to create a song around one of the stories they hear. A group of specialist mentors will be assigned to each team to help them through the various stages of creating original songs and music videos. Successful applicants are required to attend all activities and meetings during the programme period.

Completed music videos will be featured in the Jockey Club “Project Silver” Intergenerational Arts Project exhibition and an online showcase between October and November 2021.

Application Process
Please submit your application on or before 4 July 2021 and include at least one work sample that demonstrates your skill in your selected specialisation.

Interview Process
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a 15-minute interview. During the interview, those applying as songwriters will be asked to perform a song they have written themselves (please prepare instruments and/or equipment required). Applicants applying as music producers can prepare music software or instruments for a short live sharing. Video producers can share samples of their previous works during the interview. Additional interview details will be shared with shortlisted applicants.

4 August 2021: (7PM - 9PM) Team sharing 
Early August to mid-September 2021: Songwriting and music production
25 August 2021: (7PM - 9PM) Progress presentation
18 September 2021: (2PM - 4:30PM) Song demo showcase
September to early October 2021: Music video production
Mid October 2021: Final video submission
Late October to early November 2021: Exhibition and online showcase

** Selected applicants are required to attend all activities and meetings during the programme period.
