The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: stART Up Community Arts Project 2023 “Voice/Noise”: Urban Soundscape Recording Workshops
01/02/2023; 11/02/2023

Cities are noisy places with their own individual soundscapes of voices and sounds. What does your city sound like and how would you describe it?
The multimedia community project “Voice/Noise” takes participants on a journey through the streets and alleyways of Hong Kong to collect the sounds of our bustling city. Merged with words and movement, by scriptwriter and director Alpha Chan and soundscape artist B.O. Woo Chung-sing, these sounds will form part of a multimedia installation portraying Hong Kong in a new way.
We are now seeking young people and adults aged 15 and over who are interested in learning about the art of creating soundscapes. With eyes and ears open, participants will explore the city with B.O. Woo Chung-sing and make professional recordings of the sounds they hear. The recordings will be integrated into an installation that will be exhibited in March 2023.
If you’re interested to join, please register for the workshop aimed at your age group. Details will be announced during workshops.
