Cube Culture: Genifer Cheng

We've started to rehearse for Project After 6: Cube Culture, a brand new HKYAF x Swire Properties musical featuring professionals and residents from the Quarry Bay area! Up next, we have Genifer Chen telling us more of Cube Culture!

What is your profession?
I am an HR officer, specialising in employee benefits and global mobility.

How long have you been at this job for?
I have been with my current company for about three years.

Do you have any special place in Tai Koo/ Quarry bay? Somewhere to wind down and/or relax?
I really enjoy relaxing at the park by myself sometimes. When the sun is out, I go sunbathing there!

Have you always been interested in performing arts?
I have been involved in the performing arts for a long time. When I was young, I did ballet and performed on stage and I also sing. I did those two principles separately but had never tried acting before. So this musical is a new experience for me!

Have you had any previous involvement with any performing arts projects?
No I haven’t, I only really got to know HKYAF recently.

What drove you to audition for Cube Culture?
Obviously ‘The Daily Grind’!! I wanted to do something to spice up my life because sometimes one’s day-to-day work can be boring sometimes. Too monotonous! I saw the audition poster right at the lobby of my building. It caught my eye and I decided to go for it. I love to watch musicals so I thought - “why not try it? ”.

What would you say is your favourite musical?
My favourite musical is The Phantom of the Opera. Just because it is such a beautiful love story.
