All cultures from around the globe have unique, vibrant and dynamic traditions to celebrate special occasions such as New Year, weddings, birthdays, festivals etc. By embracing traditions from around the world, we can have festivities for every day of the year! This year, "Standard Chartered Arts in the Park Mardi Gras 2009" is inspired by a variety of celebrations from India, the Middle East, Japan, Africa and China. 2,500 youth will create dramatic costumes, giant puppets, parade dances and hand-dyed silk flags, which will be showcased during the event, to share their creativity with the public and to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong.
Last year, Standard Chartered Arts in the Park Mardi Gras attracted more than 20,000 visitors to come and experience the fun of the visual and performing arts, such as parade, art stalls and dance performance. This year, we are getting even bigger as the event will be held for 2 full days on 14 and 15 November 2009.
