The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: stART Up Community Arts Project – Artist Incubator: DanceAbility Workshop: Seeking Dance/Movement Artists
10-11/11/2023
DanceAbility is an empowering approach to dance that embraces individuals with and without disabilities and provides a platform for self-expression and personal growth. Through inclusive and adaptive dance techniques, DanceAbility removes barriers, allowing differently-abled people to participate fully in the world of dance.
We are currently seeking passionate choreographers and movement artists who are interested in learning more about DanceAbility and how they can use it in their teaching practice. The training is led by certified DanceAbility Master Teacher and registered social worker Scarlette Cheng, and is designed to aid participants’ understanding of working with individuals who are visually impaired, Deaf or have different physical abilities. It also offers insight into how to assist differently-abled people in dance pieces, and how to help them unleash their creative potential.
After the training, selected artists will be assisting in workshop sessions for differently-abled community groups. Details will be announced during the training session.
