The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: stART Up Community Arts Project: Community Art Incubator: Stories Beyond Limits – Seeking Participants

24-25/01/2026

The stART Up Community Arts Project provides accessible arts opportunities for people of all ages, cultures and abilities, promoting understanding and equity among people of diverse backgrounds.

Our Community Art Incubator: Stories Beyond Limits workshop series is now accepting applications. Led by professionals in art venue accessibility, theatrical interpretation, and audio description, the programme offers hands on learning with practitioners at the forefront of inclusive arts. Over two days, participants will explore pioneering approaches — from accessible tours to performance techniques and sound based storytelling — while gaining practical skills that expand how art can be experienced by everyone.

We welcome educators, artists, social workers, cultural administrators, and disability rights advocates to join us.

Day 1 – 24 | 01 | 2026 (Saturday), 11am – 5pm

11am – 12:30pm | Join innovators from Hong Kong’s Centre for Heritage Arts & Textile (CHAT) as they lead the way in making art accessible for all. Discover insights from CHAT’s pioneering Accessibility Tour, guided by a deaf–hearing docent duo — an inspiring museum experience that celebrates diversity and inclusion.

‧  2pm – 5pm | Interactive session with theatrical interpreters Suzanne Chan and Michael Ng, bringing stories to life through movement and touch.

Day 2 – 25 | 01 | 2026 (Sunday), 10:30am – 5pm

‧  10:30am – 12:30pm  | Beyond Vision International will share its innovative approaches to making art experiences accessible for visually impaired audiences, offering practical strategies to enhance inclusion in participants’ own work.

‧  2pm – 5pm | Discover how audio describer Yumi Keung helps the visually impaired experience theatre and museums. Gain fresh insight into how art can be perceived through sound, imagination, and tactile engagement.
