Off the Beat

Music & Dance Workshop

Seeking musicians and dancers keen to explore and create alternative beats and movement!

Led by contemporary musician Sascia Pellegrini, this workshop explores the rhythmic possibilities of merging music and movement by using off-beat rhythms and odd metre counts. Participants will experiment with tempo and syncopation, and be guided to create a visual form of music rich with layers of dance and melody.

Musicians should have basic sight-reading and improvisation skills, and are asked to bring along their own instruments (all instruments welcome). Dancers should be comfortable devising their own movements. Suitable for ages 13 - 20, workshop will be conducted in English only.
