HK URBAN CANVAS 2019: Exhibition
HK Urban Canvas returns in 2019! The project aims to cultivate community inclusion and appreciation of local culture through a series of community art projects, including commissioned shutter artworks inspired by local tales and traditions, arts education activities, exhibitions, cultural tours and an HK Urban Canvas app. To date, HK Urban Canvas has worked with communities in Wan Chai, Sheung Wan, Sai Ying Pun, Sham Shui Po, Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei.
This year, HK Urban Canvas explores the rich multicultural communities of Aberdeen, Ap Lei Chau and Kowloon City with a focus on local food. In addition to the commissioned shutter artworks, students will take part in an artist-in-residence programme to create original artworks inspired by the unique food cultures of each community. The results of the students’ creative work will be showcased in a public exhibition in April 2019.
